PURPOSE: To provide need based financial assistance for players who would otherwise be unable to play Keliix soccer.
While the club tries to keep fees as low as possible, we realize that paying the full amount can be a hardship for some families; therefore, financial aid "scholarships" may be available to offset fees, on a need-determined basis. The club does expect families to finance their children’s soccer to the extent that they are able.
PROCESS: The club has a scholarship committee that reviews the applications and scholarship awards. The scholarship committee treats the applications as confidential. Names of applicants are known only to the committee chair and to the club treasurer.
Demonstrated financial need is the primary determining factor for a scholarship award. U.S. Federal Poverty Guidelines are used. These poverty guidelines are effective beginning January 19, 2023. Federal Register website: Federal Register :: Annual Update of the HHS Poverty Guidelines
SIZE OF AWARDS: Financial Aid/Scholarship amounts are awarded in the range of 25-80% of the applicant's participation fees which include the base fee, team stipend for tournaments and NPL (TCSL-National Premier League) supplement (NPL teams only) as well as an award to cover uniform kit costs. Players may incur additional costs over-and-above the awarded amounts if teams travel or opt to play additional tournaments and scrimmages that are not covered by the team stipend. No player is awarded the full fee amount. All applicants are required to pay for the $200 deposit which is due and owing with the initial registration each year. The number and size of awards given may vary from year to year based on funds available and number of applications received.
APPLICATIONS: Because family finances can vary from year to year, it is necessary for a family to apply every year. Family balances due to Keliix must be at zero to be considered for an award. All applications must be accompanied with a form of documented financial need. The most recent tax return is the best but other forms can be accepted.
- Full consideration is given to players who meet the financial criteria, apply on time, with no outstanding balances owed to the club.
- Submitting an application does not guarantee a scholarship award.
